Nabil El-Nayal’s designs are inspired by Elizabethan fashions

The Best Of Manchester awards has revealed a shortlist of nominees for this year’s prize and the winners will be announced at a ceremony on August 7. Divided into art music and fashion categories the nominees include Jai Redman whose UHC collective re-enacted Camp X-Ray in Hulme; Duncan Sime who runs the record label and clubnight Red Deer Club and recent Manchester University fashion graduate Nabil El-Nayal whose designs for womens’ clothing are inspired by Elizabethan splendour. An exhibition showcasing all the shortlisted work will open at Urbis on August 8.

A £20 000 prize is on offer to the winner of the The Lowry’s second Transformations art project. The winner will receive the prize and also see their work displayed at The Lowry next year. The previous prize was won by creative duo Grennan & Sperandio replica swiss piaget double jeu with their infamous Psychic Avatars. Entries are welcome in all media and materials and must be submitted by August 22.

Oldham’s Coliseum theatre has opened up its audience choice ballot again after the success of a recent similar experiment (which saw JB Priestley’s An Inspector Calls emerge victorious as the play to be staged).
